L2 Hostility

by LightLand

With L2 Hostility installed, the mobs a player meets grow stronger or weaker depending on how the player is doing, and some gain special traits.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

The mod assigns every enemy a level based on its surroundings and kind, then raises mob health and damage as that level climbs, with strong traits appearing more often. Players and chunk sections carry a difficulty value: killing mobs raises it, and dying lowers the player's value. The Hostility Detector shows the current difficulty, and the Hostility Orb stops a chunk section from spawning leveled mobs.

The mod is built around progression rather than random strength. Traits, difficulty and drops can be adjusted in the config files and through datapacks, and default datapack settings cover several other mods. L2 Hostility requires Curios API, Patchouli, L2 Library and L2 Complements, and it runs on Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with Client and server as the environment. It is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only.

Key features

  1. Level-based mobs

Each enemy gets a level from its surroundings, and higher levels bring more health, damage and traits.

  2. Trait symbols

Mobs with traits drop ingredients, and a Curse of Envy craft lets players collect trait symbols for better gear.

  3. Safe regions

A Hostility Orb makes a chunk section stop spawning leveled mobs, so an area can be kept clear.

  4. Difficulty detector

The Hostility Detector displays the current difficulty for the player's location and state.
