Youkai's Homecoming adds Japanese-themed foods, crops and a coffee drink, along with Touhou-related content, for Forge and NeoForge.

What it does

The mod brings a set of plants and dishes modeled on Japanese cooking. Red beans, soybeans, coffea, tea and udumbara are added as crops, and each one has its own preferred biome and planting surface. Recipes produce several traditional sweets and soups, so the food supply is not limited to raw plants.

Youkai's Homecoming requires Farmer's Delight, which supplies the cooking framework the dishes use. Optional dependencies include Delightful, Diet, Fruits Delight, Serene Seasons, Thirst Was Taken and Touhou Little Maid, and each adds integration when installed. The mod is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Builds exist for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the latest Forge and NeoForge files, version 2.7.1, target 1.20.1 and were published 2026-10-10.

Key features

  1. Japanese crops

    Red beans, soybeans, coffea, tea and udumbara are added, each found in specific biomes such as birch forests or swamps.

  2. Planting surfaces

    Red beans grow on clay, mud or coarse dirt, and coffea grows on podzol, mud or soul soil.

  3. Udumbara growth cycle

    Udumbara grows under moonlight, shrinks in sunlight and flowers only briefly during a full moon.

  4. Japanese dishes

    Several traditional sweets and soups are added as foods built on the new ingredients.

  5. Coffee drink

    Coffee gives a caffeine effect and a sober effect that prevents phantoms from spawning, but it blocks sleep and drinking another sober drink.
