Easy Anvils
by Fuzs
Easy Anvils keeps items inside an anvil after the screen closes, shows them on the block, and lowers several repair and enchanting costs.
What it does
Items placed in an anvil stay there when the interface is closed, and their contents are drawn on the block in the world. Prior work penalties rise far more slowly than in vanilla, so repeated repairs and renames remain practical. Renaming costs no experience levels, and item names accept formatting codes for colors and text styles.
Several common actions are cheaper, including applying enchanted books, and anvils can be restored with iron blocks to extend their lifespan and make them less likely to break. Client and server both need the mod. Under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 the project is open source, and builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 23 release versions, with the newest Fabric and NeoForge file for 26.3 dated 2026-10-08.
Fabric API, Forge Config API Port and Puzzles Lib are required dependencies, and Puzzles Lib is needed on Fabric and NeoForge. Forge Config Screens is an optional dependency that adds an in-game configuration screen. Settings can be edited in the config folder under the mod ID with the client, common or server suffix, depending on the file type.
Key features
Persistent anvils
Items remain in the anvil after the interface closes instead of returning to the inventory automatically.
Visible anvil contents
The stored items show on the anvil itself, so its state can be read from a distance.
Reduced prior work penalties
Repairing and renaming items escalate prior work costs much more slowly than vanilla anvils do.
Free renaming
Renaming an item costs no experience levels, which keeps naming separate from the cost of repairs and enchantments.
Repairable anvils
Iron blocks restore damaged anvils, and anvils are less likely to break during use.
