Nature's Compass
by Chaosyr
Nature's Compass points a player toward a chosen biome anywhere in the world, after the biome is picked from an in-game selection screen.
What it does
Right-clicking the compass opens a biome selection screen where a player can search for a biome or view details about it. Information about a found biome appears on the heads-up display. Shift-right-clicking resets the compass. Without a tracked biome, the compass aims at the world spawn instead.
Every registered biome, both vanilla and modded, can be used as a search target. Options such as blacklisted biomes and the search range are set in the config file. Saplings and logs are handled through the ore dictionary, which lets other mods' wood types be recognized as well. Published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 28 release versions, 1.7.10 – 26.3, under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, and it is not open source. Running on client and server, it is required by Comforts and Compasses Advancements Pack Add-on.
Key features
Biome selection screen
Right-clicking opens a menu where a biome can be searched for and its details can be viewed before the compass is set.
Reset with shift
Shift-right-clicking clears the compass state so it can be set to a new target.
Spawn fallback
While no biome is being tracked, the compass points at the world spawn.
All registered biomes
Vanilla and modded biomes are both supported as search targets.
Config options
Blacklisted biomes and the search range are configurable, so server owners can limit how far the compass looks.
