Traveler's Compass
by nNined
Traveler's Compass adds a handheld compass that searches the area around the player for chosen blocks, mobs and items.
What it does
Players open the compass menu with a right click and load it with the block, item or mob they want to locate. A search runs for that target and the compass points toward the nearest match, with one or more search modes selectable per run. Shift and right click on a block or mob adds it to the compass inventory, and shift and right click on an item already in that inventory marks it as a priority, so priority entries are searched first.
Fabric API is required on every loader the mod supports, so it must be installed alongside Traveler's Compass. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 19 release versions 1.18.2 – 26.3, and it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, so the code is open source. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.
Key features
Target search
The compass searches the area for whatever block, item or mob is loaded into its inventory.
Search modes
One or more search modes can be chosen before a search starts, which narrows what the compass looks for.
Priority entries
Items marked as priority in the compass inventory are searched before the other entries.
Adjustable display
The HUD, the ping sound and the search range can be changed in the compass menu.
