Show Me Your Skin!

by enjarai

With Show Me Your Skin!, players choose which armor pieces, the elytra and the shield stay visible, and how transparent each one is.

FabricClient required, server optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.1 – 26.2

What it does

Each armor piece, the elytra and the shield can be configured separately. Options include arbitrary transparency, full invisibility, hiding the enchantment glint, and hiding the player name tag. Settings are changed in one graphical screen and can be adjusted during play.

Armor can also return to vanilla rendering under set conditions, for example while in combat, where it stays shown for a configurable number of seconds after the player takes damage. When the mod runs on a server, players' settings are synced to other players in real time, and server admins can restrict which settings are available. Without the mod on the server, a player can still set personal options for every other player, visible only to that player.

The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source. It requires CICADA, Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib), and bundles Cardinal Components API. Files cover 1.18.1 – 26.2 on Fabric. Show Me Your Ponies! requires it.

Key features

  1. Per-piece configuration

Helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots, elytra and shield each get their own visibility settings.

  2. Transparency and invisibility

Any armor piece can be made partly transparent or fully hidden, to any degree the player chooses.

  3. Enchantment glint hiding

The shimmer that marks enchanted items can be turned off for worn armor.

  4. Context-sensitive hiding

Armor can revert to vanilla rendering during combat, for a set number of seconds after damage.

  5. Server-synced settings

With the mod on a server, each player's settings are shown to others in real time, and admins can limit the options.

  6. Per-player overrides

Without the mod on the server, a player can set personal options for each other player, seen only locally.

Use cases

Cosmetic showcases

Players who want to display a skin or a rare piece of gear can make the surrounding armor transparent or hidden.

Server roleplay

Server admins can set rules for which armor options are allowed, so rendering stays consistent across a community.

Who it’s for: Players who want control over how their character looks in multiplayer, and server owners who want to set limits on what other players may change.

Armor Visibility works on the client alone, is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and supports Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 1.15 – 1.21.5. Show Me Your Skin! needs the client, while the server may skip it.
