Tinkers' Survival
by wendall911
Players who start a Tinkers' Construct pack with nothing but their hands get Tinkers' Survival, which adds the crude tools and early steps that lead into Tinkers' tools.
What it does
Tinkers' Survival covers the first stretch of a world, before any tool from Tinkers' Construct exists. Early game in vanilla Minecraft is thin, so the mod adds a path that starts with punching a tree and crafting a few items by hand, then moves through simple tools that make the parts needed for the Tinkers' tools that follow. Crude tools are required to create those parts, and a saw is the only way to turn logs into wood planks.
The saw comes in a crude version first and an advanced Tinkers version later. Harvesting is meant to use the proper tool for each block, and the vanilla-like tools and weapons that the mod leaves out do not work for players, which keeps the progression pointed at Tinkers' Construct tools and weapons. Tinkers' Survival requires Mantle, Survivalist Essentials and Tinkers' Construct, and it runs on client and server under the MIT License, as open source, for 1.12.2, 1.18.2, 1.19.2 and 1.20.1.
Key features
Crude tools
Simple tools are craftable early and supply the parts needed to build the Tinkers' tools.
Saw for planks
The saw is the only way to make wood planks, and it appears first in a crude form and later as an advanced Tinkers version.
Proper harvest tools
Each block has to be harvested with the right tool, so the early tools matter for gathering.
Tool progression
The early game is arranged to lead directly into tool making with Tinkers' Construct tools and weapons.

What the author says
Early game is pretty much non-existent in Minecraft. Punch a tree, craft a few items, done! This mod creates a very early game (first few nights) progression that leads directly into Tinkers' Construct tool making. If Constructs' Armory is installed (1.12.2 only), a progression into armor making as well!
