Where Is It
by JackFred
Where Is It lets a player press Y over an item and find that item in nearby inventories, with search running on the server.
What it does
Searches start from the inventory screen or from any item the player points at. Pressing Y by default searches by item ID, and holding shift also matches NBT data. When the hovered item is a fluid, the search finds items holding that fluid, and when the item comes from a recipe, tags in that recipe are matched too. Items such as enchanted books and potions are searched by the enchantment or potion effect they carry, and a named Shulker Box in favourites is found by its name.
The search itself runs on the server, so a client without the mod can type the /whereis command, whose name can be changed in the config. Recipe viewers are supported, including the vanilla Recipe Book as well as JEI, REI and EMI. The mod is built on Fabric and Quilt and needs Fabric API along with YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL). It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code is open source.

Use cases
Finding stored materials
A player who has spread materials across chests and barrels can locate a specific item without opening each container.
Locating named Shulker Boxes
Favourited, named Shulker Boxes can be searched by name, which helps when many look alike.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want players to locate items across storage without installing a client-side search tool, and players who keep items spread across many containers.
How it compares
Find - Search For Items is a client-side only mod for Fabric and Quilt, released under the MIT License and open source, with files for 1.19 – 1.21.1. Roughly Searchable is client-side only on Fabric alone, also MIT licensed and open source, for 1.17.1 – 1.21. Where Is It differs by running its search on the server, so clients may stay vanilla.
