Clumps merges nearby experience orbs into one entity to cut lag, and players collect them as soon as they touch them.

What it does

Large amounts of experience in one place, such as from a mob farm, create many orb entities. Clumps groups them into single orbs that carry the combined value, which reduces the entity count. Orbs are also picked up immediately on contact, so players are not left standing in a cloud of experience.

From 1.17 on, a server install is enough; for older versions both sides need it. Either side can run it, and neither needs it on newer versions. Fabric API is a dependency on Fabric, and the MIT License makes it open source across 47 release versions, 1.10.2 – 26.3.

Clumps groups XP orbs together into a single entity to reduce lag when there are many in a small area. On top of this, it also makes the player immediately collect the orbs once they touch the player, so you are not stuck with a bunch of orbs in your face.
