VisualSky
by AliYelo
On the player's own screen, VisualSky alters the appearance of the sky, the time of day and the weather, while the server keeps running its real world.
What it does
Inside VisualSky, a player can set the visual time of day and the visual weather for their client. The changes are drawn locally, so the server keeps its real time and weather, and the world logic does not change. Switching between visual day and night, or between clear, rain and thunder effects, happens through keybinds and a configuration screen.
The mod is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it and vanilla servers work without any change. Precipitation in Rain/Snow mode is forced to appear visually, while Minecraft still decides between rain and snow by biome, with cold biomes showing snow and warmer ones showing rain. VisualSky requires Fabric API and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), and Mod Menu is optional for opening the config screen from its menu. It is published only for Fabric, across 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, and the code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.
Incompatible mods named by the author are BadOptimizations and Controlify (Controller support), so a player running either of them should expect conflicts with the sky and time rendering.
Key features
Visual time changer
Sets the time of day shown on the client only, leaving the server clock untouched.
Visual weather changer
Shows clear, rain or thunder effects on the client, independent of the weather on the server.
Keybind switching
Day and night modes, and the clear, rain and thunder visuals, can be toggled from keybinds.
Config screen
A configuration screen collects the visual time and weather options in one place.
Forced precipitation
Rain/Snow mode displays precipitation regardless of the world, and snow or rain still follows the biome.

Fake Weather is a client-side mod for Fabric and Forge, under the MIT License, published for 1.16.5 – 26.2 and not open source. SleepMenu is server-side only, open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 or later, and published for 1.21.11 – 26.3 on Fabric. WeatherVote is server-side only, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.21 – 1.21.11 on Fabric. VisualSky stays client-side only on Fabric, so it changes only what one player sees.
