Fake Weather

by USeAr3658

Fake Weather is a client-side mod that changes how rain, snow and thunder look and sound for one player, while the server keeps its real weather.

FabricForgeClient-side onlyMIT License1.16.5 – 26.2

What it does

Fake Weather lets a player switch the displayed precipitation with a single client command, so the weather can be shown as rain, snow or thunder without changing what the server runs. Its visuals use the game's own rain, snow and thunder rendering, so the look stays close to vanilla. A player can also choose to return to the server weather at any time.

The mod offers global precipitation modes that force rain, snow or a storm everywhere, ignoring biomes and dimensions. A vanilla mode lets biomes decide precipitation as they normally do. Indoor rain noise is muted while the fake weather is active, so interiors stay quiet. Gameplay mechanics, mob behavior and other server logic stay as they are.

The mod needs the server mod to be installed on a server, and it works in single-player worlds, where the integrated server handles the weather logic. Files are published for Fabric and Forge, with 1.16.5, 1.21.8, 1.21.11 and 26.2 among the game versions. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Vanilla-looking precipitation

Rain, snow and thunder are drawn with the game's native rendering, so the displayed weather reads as ordinary vanilla weather.

  2. Global precipitation modes

Rain, snow or a storm can be forced across the whole world, or the biome and dimension rules of vanilla can be kept.

  3. Quiet interiors

Indoor rain sound is muted while fake weather is active, so being inside a building does not carry the rain noise.

  4. Instant mode switching

Each mode is changed with one client command, so the displayed weather can be switched without restarting the game.
