Carpet

by altrisi

Carpet adds a set of technical rules and debugging tools to vanilla Minecraft, and most of them are configured on the server.

FabricServer required, client optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.14.4 – 26.3

What it does

Carpet exposes many individual game settings that can be changed while the game runs, covering technical behavior such as tick timing, mob spawning and block updates. A full list of these settings is kept on the mod's wiki. The mod also includes commands that report server performance, such as the mob cap and ticks per second, and these values refresh live in the chat log.

Scarpet is a programming language built into Carpet. It lets server owners and players run scripts that interact with the world, and Carpet includes a few built-in scripts that can be loaded at any time. Other scripts are kept in the Scarpet repository, and the mod's docs explain how to write new ones. Carpet also has many extension mods that add further rules and functions.

Only the server needs to run Carpet, and players may leave it out. It is published for Fabric across 43 game versions, 1.14.4 – 26.3, with snapshot builds also available, and the source is released under the MIT License as open source. Carpet-Fixes, GugleCarpetAddition, Carpet TIS Addition, Carpet Extra and Carpet Org Addition are among the 93 mods that require it.

Key features

  1. Tick warp

The /tick warp command runs the game forward quickly, so a farm can be tested over hours of game time in a few minutes.

  2. Hopper counters

A hopperCounters setting reports a detailed breakdown of the items that a farm or hopper chain produces.

  3. Movable block entities

The movableBlockEntities setting lets pistons push block entities such as chests.

  4. Live server logs

The /log command shows server values such as mobcap and TPS, updated live.

Who it’s for: Server owners, technical players and mod developers who want fine control over vanilla mechanics and access to a scripting language for their world.
