BadOptimizations
by thosea
BadOptimizations trims client work outside rendering, such as lightmap updates and debug logic.
What it does
Many performance mods focus on drawing. This one looks at other client work the game repeats without need: it skips lightmap updates when nothing changed, avoids debug logic that is not in use and speeds up sky color calculation on 1.21.10 and older. These are examples; the full set covers more small spots.
Every optimization can be turned off in the config file if it causes a problem. BadOptimizations runs only on the client, under the MIT License, with files for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 27 release versions; the Forge build stops at 1.20.1.
Key features
Lightmap skipping
The lightmap is not recomputed when lighting conditions have not changed.
Idle debug logic
Debug code paths are skipped when the debug features are not used.
Sky color calculation
Sky color is computed more cheaply on 1.21.10 and earlier versions.
Per-optimization toggles
Each change can be disabled separately in the config file.

What the author says
That's a few of them, at least. You can disable any optimization in the config file if you need to.
