ThrowableTorches

by Nikrecs

ThrowableTorches lets players throw a held torch with a left click, and the torch sticks to the first surface it hits.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.19.2 – 26.3

What it does

Holding a torch and left-clicking launches it along a visible arc through the air, with a glowing flame and a smoke trail behind it. Where the torch comes to rest it lands on the nearest surface: a standing torch on the top face of a block, or a wall torch on a side, placed automatically. A torch that hits a mob drops as an item that can be picked up again, so no torch is lost on a miss. Aim anywhere, including open air, a wall or a floor, and the throw follows the crosshair.

The mod suits caves, ravines, high ledges and dark corners, where a torch can be lit without walking over. In survival, each throw uses up one torch, while creative players can throw as many as they like without consuming any, and the rate of throws is capped as long as the button stays held. The client detects the left click and the server throws and places the torch, so multiplayer needs the mod on both sides, and it also works in singleplayer.

ThrowableTorches requires Architectury API on every loader. Fabric and NeoForge builds need it, and Forge requires additional dependencies. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, for game versions 1.19.2 – 26.3, and is released under the MIT License (not open source).

Key features

  1. Throwing torches

A held torch flies along a real arc and lands on the first surface it hits, instead of being placed one block at a time.

  2. Automatic placement

Torches stick to the top of a block or to a wall side on their own, depending on the face where they come to rest.

  3. Torch variants

Regular, soul and redstone torches can all be thrown, and each variant leaves its own particle trail.

  4. Survival balance

One torch is used per throw in survival, and throws are rate-limited while the button is held, so a stack is not emptied at once.

What the author says

Lets you throw your torches instead of placing them one block at a time. Hold a torch and left-click — it flies through the air in a realistic arc, trailing flame and smoke, and sticks to the first surface it hits. Great for instantly lighting caves, ravines, high ledges, and dark corners without walking over to…
