With FasterLadderClimbing installed on a server, players set their own climbing speed on ladders from an in-game screen.
What it does
The mod changes how fast players move up and down ladders while leaving vanilla ladders in place. Each player can choose a control scheme, either holding jump to climb or looking up to ascend and down to descend, and can set the ascent and descent speeds through the settings screen. A LEGACY option restores the original look-and-walk behaviour, and the sneak key can stop a ladder or cancel a fast descent.
Servers hold the limits. The server sets caps on how fast players may climb, and players cannot exceed them, so the server keeps control of the setting. Only the server needs the mod, so players can join without installing it, and a modless server simply keeps vanilla ladder speed. The settings screen follows the game language and is translated into ten languages, and malformed or out-of-range values are clamped or rejected so a broken config does not stop the game starting. Fabric API is required for the Fabric build, and the mod works in singleplayer without changes.

Three activation modes
Players pick hold jump, look-only or the input-first default, depending on how they want to steer the ladder.
Adjustable ascent and descent
Ascent and descent speeds are set in the in-game settings screen, and changes apply when Done is pressed.
Server-enforced limits
Server owners can cap the speeds players set, and those limits apply even when players choose higher values locally.
Sneak controls
Holding sneak stops a ladder, and the sneakStopsDescent option decides whether sneaking also cancels a fast descent.
Translated settings screen
The settings screen is available in ten languages, including Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese.
