LeashAll
by Nikrecs
With LeashAll, a regular lead can be attached to almost any mob, and to players, boats and minecarts as well.
What it does
LeashAll turns the ordinary lead into a universal leash. Players can leash most creatures that vanilla Minecraft does not allow to be leashed, attach a lead to another living entity, chain creatures together by sneaking and right-clicking, take a leash back from a creature that is already leashed, or detach one with an empty hand. The mod removes most vanilla restrictions on leads, so previously unleashable creatures can move around the world while held. Configuration sits in a per-world file in serverconfig/leashall-server.toml, read when a world loads, and the in-game screen offers a client option that stays server-authoritative.
The mod is a server-side mod with an optional client part. Vanilla clients can join and play without installing anything, because nothing is gated behind having the mod. The client part only adds visuals: leashes render with a proper sagging rope, and players, boats, minecarts and the ender dragon are drawn with the same rope. Rope on ordinary mobs appears the same in both cases. Dedicated servers and singleplayer both work, and in singleplayer the mod can be dropped into the mods folder. The license is MIT, and the mod is not open source.
LeashAll requires Architectury API on every loader. Fabric also needs Fabric API. Forge needs additional dependencies. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 9 release versions, 1.19.2 – 26.3, with 1.5.0 as the latest build on each loader.
Key features
Universal leash use
A regular lead attaches to almost any creature, including ones vanilla would not allow to be leashed.
Chain creatures together
Sneaking and right-clicking another creature links it to one that is already leashed, without needing an extra lead.
Take leash back
Right-clicking a creature leashed to another mob moves the leash back into the player's hand.
Detach with empty hand
Right-clicking a leashed creature with an empty hand removes its leash.
Configurable entity lists
The allow list is off by default, so any entity can be leashed unless the blocked list excludes it, and an allowed list can limit leashing to chosen entities.
