AutoSwap
by Nikrecs
With AutoSwap installed, a tool, weapon, armor piece or totem is equipped again as soon as the item in use breaks or runs out.
What it does
AutoSwap is a client-side mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Its automation covers hotbar and inventory handling: it selects a tool suited to the block under the crosshair, keeps a mining tool selected while the player moves between different block types, and replaces a broken tool, weapon or armor piece with a matching one from the inventory. Items on a blacklist are never swapped away, and a shield or totem can be added by item ID through a built-in picker. Only the client needs the mod, and it works in singleplayer as well as on multiplayer servers.
The mod depends on Architectury API, which must be installed on every loader. Its settings can be toggled on their own, so a player may keep stack refills and double-jump elytra while turning off automatic weapon attacks. AutoSwap is not open source; it is released under the MIT License. Its files target game versions 1.19.2 – 26.3, with the latest build 1.5.2 for 26.3, published 2026-09-17.
Key features
Automatic tool selection
A suitable tool for the block being mined is selected continuously, and the choice is restored to the previous item when mining ends.
Gear replacement
A broken tool, weapon or armor piece is replaced by a matching item from the inventory without any input from the player.
Stack refills
When the active hotbar slot runs low on blocks such as torches, identical items from the inventory fill it again.
Double-jump elytra
An elytra in the inventory is equipped for a double jump and the chestplate returns after landing.

How it compares

Double Jump is server required with client optional, MIT licensed and not open source, for 1.20 – 1.21.5 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it adds a second jump rather than swapping gear. Elytras Begone is also server required with client optional and not open source, for 1.20.5 – 1.21.5.
