That Makes Sense

by kestalkayden

That Makes Sense bundles several small gameplay changes, each one a separate switch, aimed at making vanilla behavior match what players tend to expect.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 26.3

What it does

Each tweak targets one behavior of the base game: farmland that trampling no longer reverts to dirt, creepers whose blasts leave terrain intact while still hurting entities, ghast fireballs that hurt entities but no longer break blocks, endermen that stop picking up and placing blocks, villagers struck by lightning that do not become witches, sweet berry bushes that stop damaging mobs, ender pearls that deal teleport damage, and pets that take fall damage when teleported with their owner.

The mod is open source under the MIT License. It needs Fabric API and runs on Fabric and NeoForge, with the latest files published for 26.3 on 2026-09-21. Client and server are both needed, and gameplay-affecting tweaks are resolved on the server, so clients follow the server's config. Mod Menu is optional and adds access to the in-game config screen, which is built on Cloth Config.

Key features

  1. Toggleable tweaks

Every change can be switched on or off in the in-game config screen or by editing the config files.

  2. Server-side authority

Gameplay tweaks are resolved on the server, which keeps the setting authoritative for all connected players.

  3. Targeted behavior changes

Each fix alters one vanilla mechanic, such as creeper blasts, endermen griefing or pet fall damage, without touching the rest.

  4. Default settings

Each tweak has its own default, so a server owner can keep a handful and turn the rest off.

Questions

Does That Makes Sense need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required, and it is needed on both Fabric and NeoForge installs of the mod.

Does the server need the mod, or only the players?

A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Gameplay tweaks follow the server's config.

Can the in-game config screen be used without Mod Menu?

Mod Menu is optional. It provides access to the config screen, which relies on Cloth Config, and the settings can also be edited in the config files.

What the author says

A collection of small quality-of-life tweaks that make Minecraft behave the way you'd expect — each one independently toggleable from an in-game config screen. No single sweeping change, no new dimension, no bloat. Just a growing set of "…wait, why isn't it already like this?" fixes you can turn on or off…
