No Crop Trample

by kestalkayden

No Crop Trample stops entities from turning farmland back into dirt, so crops planted on it stay intact when players, mobs or projectiles pass over.

What it does

The mod targets the farmland-destruction path that vanilla uses when an entity lands on a block. A small mixin wraps the call inside FarmlandBlock.fallOn and cancels it through the built-in BlockEvent.FarmlandTrampleEvent. Modded farmland that extends FarmlandBlock keeps this protection through inheritance, and modded crops planted on vanilla farmland are covered as well, which is the most common case.

Fall damage still applies, and only the farmland-destruction path is skipped. A JSON config file lets server owners turn off the protection for players, mobs or projectiles separately. Each of these paths is checked against the same configuration, and the mod is published for Fabric and NeoForge on Minecraft 26.1.x. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and a dedicated server must be restarted after editing the config for changes to take effect. The code is MIT licensed and open source.

Key features

  1. Farmland trample prevention

Stops entities from reverting farmland to dirt when they land on it, protecting wheat, carrots and modded crops.

  2. Per-entity toggles

A single JSON config lets server owners disable protection only for players, only for mobs or only for projectiles.

  3. Vanilla path preserved

Fall damage keeps working, and only the farmland-destruction path is skipped, so the rest of the game is unchanged.

  4. Modded farmland compatibility

Modded farmland that extends the vanilla FarmlandBlock inherits the protection automatically.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want farmland to stay intact without a larger mod. Servers that run on Fabric or NeoForge with Minecraft 26.1.x can use it with a single config toggle.

Questions

Does No Crop Trample need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is listed as a required dependency, so it must be installed next to the mod on Fabric.

Can the server disable the protection for mobs only?

Yes. The JSON config has per-entity toggles, so the server can turn off protection for players, mobs or projectiles separately.

Do the changes apply without a restart?

No. A dedicated server must be restarted after editing the config for the changes to take effect.

What the author says

A small mod that does one thing: stops farmland from reverting to dirt when entities land on it. No more destroyed wheat fields from a careless jump, a wandering zombie, or a stray arrow. Targets Minecraft 26.1.x on both Fabric and NeoForge.
