With Stylish Effects installed, the status effect icons in the HUD and inventory show a timer and amplifier, and effects can be listed in any container screen.

What it does

The mod replaces the vanilla effect display on the HUD with a version that adds a remaining-time timer and the current amplifier for each effect. The same compact display is used inside the inventory, where icons take less space and more effects fit before they overlap. Active effects can also be viewed in other container screens, not only the player inventory. Hovering an icon opens a tooltip with the effect name, and that tooltip gains more detail when a compatible description mod is present.

Presentation is set in the configuration. Several widget modes are available, including one that keeps the vanilla inventory layout or disables the display altogether. Options cover the screen side, row and column count, a custom alpha value, text colors and custom screen positions. Forge users open these settings in-game through Config Menus for Forge.

Stylish Effects requires Fabric API on Fabric, Forge Config API Port on Forge and NeoForge, and Puzzles Lib on every loader. Forge Config Screens is optional and adds an in-game config menu. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 22 release versions, 1.19 – 26.3, and is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, so the source code is open source.

Crowded potion setups

Players who stack many potion effects can fit them into the inventory without the icons covering each other.

Modpacks with many effects

Packs that add their own status effects can keep them readable through the tooltip and timer.

Who it’s for: Players who want to read active effects at a glance on the HUD or in containers, and players who want the vanilla inventory effect layout kept or kept off. Client-side only, so it does not need to be installed on a server.
