Skin Shuffle

by The Cogs

With Skin Shuffle installed, players switch between saved skin presets from a carousel screen, and Fabric servers that run the mod can refresh skins without a relog.

FabricClient required, server optionalAll rights reserved1.20 – 26.3

What it does

Skin Shuffle lets a player create, edit, store and delete skin presets. Each preset holds a skin texture, a model type and a name. The first time the mod runs, it saves the player's current skin as the main preset. Skins can be taken from texture URLs, from a Minecraft username, or from textures already in the game.

The mod sends skin changes through Mojang's online API, so the player needs a Minecraft account for it to work. When the mod is also installed on the server, a skin change takes effect without leaving the server, and other players see the new skin straight away, including players whose clients do not run the mod. Skin Changing Commands let vanilla clients change their skins as well. Fabric API is required.

The mod is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Public links exist for the source code, issue tracker and wiki. Skin Shuffle is published for Fabric only, across 24 release versions, 1.20 – 26.3, with 2.14.0+26.3-fabric as the latest file for 26.3.

Key features

  1. Skin presets

Presets store a texture, model type and name, and any of them can be applied in one step.

  2. Carousel screen

The carousel lists saved presets in Compact or Carousel mode, with rotation speed and cursor-follow settings.

  3. Edit preset screen

The edit screen changes the texture, model type and name of a preset, and is reachable from the title and pause screens.

  4. Skin preset sharing

Presets can be shared between players, so a skin set can be passed on without rebuilding it.

  5. Configurable interface

YACL's configuration screen controls the carousel speed, cursor behavior and where the preview widget appears.
