Flow

by The Cogs

Flow is a Fabric client mod that adds configurable ease in-out animations when inventory screens open and close.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20 – 1.21.1

What it does

Flow animates the movement of inventory screens when they open and close, using an ease in-out curve. Players can choose the easing type, set a background tint and blur, and pick the direction a screen slides in from. The mod includes built-in fixes for compatibility with several other interface mods, and it is expected to work alongside many others without extra setup.

The mod requires Fabric API and MRU to run. It is client-side only, so servers do not need it and players can join without installing it. Files target Fabric for game versions 1.20 – 1.21.1, with the latest file, 2.2.0+1.21, built for 1.21.1 and dated 2024-11-16. The code is not open source; the mod is released under All rights reserved, and public source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are linked from the project page.

Key features

  1. Ease in-out transitions

Opening and closing inventory screens use a configurable ease in-out animation instead of an instant switch.

  2. Slide directions

Screens can enter from the left, the right and other sides, giving the transitions more varied motion.

  3. Blur and tint options

Background blur and tint during the animation can each be adjusted to suit the player's preference.

  4. Easing selection

The curve that drives the motion can be changed, so the pace of each transition can be tuned.

Questions

Does Flow need Fabric API and MRU?

Yes. Both Fabric API and MRU are required dependencies and must be installed next to Flow.

Does a server need Flow installed?

No. The mod is client-side only, so players can connect to a server without it.

Will Flow receive updates for newer releases?

The Modrinth page lists builds only up to 1.21.1. Newer releases are not supported at present, because of recent interface changes in the game.

What the author says

Mojang's UI refactors across 1.21 have made updating Flow for 1.21.3, 1.21.4 and 1.21.5 near impossible. Should UI refactors calm down, Flow will be remade for a future update, at a minimum 26.1+. Contributions through PRs are welcome. Flow is a inventory UI animation mod that allows you to configure an ease in-out…
