e4mc
by vgskye
e4mc lets a host share a locally running world with outside players in one click, because it gives the server a public domain.
What it does
Reverse tunneling is the core of e4mc: it exposes a locally running server to the internet for a limited time, so a world opened to LAN can be reached from anywhere a web page can be opened. The host installs the mod, uses Open to LAN as usual, and receives a domain to pass on to friends.
Only the host needs the mod. Other players join through the shared domain without installing anything. Players on Fabric must also have Fabric API, which is required there. Client and server is the environment, and builds are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, across 34 release versions, under the MIT License (open source). Source code and an issue tracker are linked from the project. It requires Fabric API. Snapshot builds are published as well.
Key features
Public domain for LAN worlds
Open to LAN produces a shareable domain, so friends can join without port forwarding or a static address.
Host-only installation
Players who join do not install anything; only the host needs the mod for the tunnel to work.
Domain generated on demand
Each time a host opens a world to LAN, the mod produces a domain that can be passed to friends for that session.
Temporary exposure
The local server is exposed to the internet only while it is open, and the connection ends when the host closes the world.
