Ngrok LAN
by Alujjdnd
Ngrok LAN lets a player open a singleplayer world to friends anywhere by routing the connection through an Ngrok tunnel, with no port forwarding.
What it does
Ngrok LAN is a Fabric mod that uses the free Ngrok service to expose a locally running world to the internet. Normally a host must forward a port through the router before others can reach a Minecraft server. With Ngrok, the traffic is routed through an external application and its datacentres instead, and Ngrok provides a link that the host can send to friends so they can connect.
The mod is client-side only, so players install it and servers do not need it. Installation requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API, plus Cloth Config API and Mod Menu, and an Ngrok account with a valid auth token and a selected region. The free Ngrok account allows one online tunnel at a time, so only one Ngrok LAN server can be hosted simultaneously; paid tiers add custom domains and more tunnels. Files target 1.18.2 – 1.20.2 and are released under the MIT License as open source.
Key features
One-click world sharing
A singleplayer world is opened to remote friends from the game with a single click, once the mod is set up.
Tunnel link for friends
After the tunnel starts, Ngrok supplies a link that the host passes on so friends can join the world.
Region and token setup
The Ngrok auth token and region are configured inside the mod before a world can be opened.
Free tier limit
The free Ngrok tier permits one tunnel at a time, so one hosted world at a time, and custom domains need a paid tier.
