PolyBlur (Motion Blur)
by Polyfrost
With PolyBlur installed, the game screen can show motion blur as the camera turns or as the player walks, using one of three blur types.
What it does
PolyBlur offers three blur types. One blends each frame into the next to leave a trail, Unity blurs along the direction the camera moves, and Hybrid combines Unity for the world with the trail effect for the held item. The Hybrid mode is not available on 1.21.5.
Blur strength can be set separately for the world and for the player's hand, and the held item can be kept sharp. Unity uses a sample count that can be raised for smoother output or lowered for better frame rates. On 1.8.9 the mod does not offer walking blur. Environment: the mod is client-side only, so servers run without it. It is published for Fabric, Forge and Ornithe across 15 release versions, 1.8.9 – 26.3, under a custom license that is not open source. Installation needs Fabric Language Kotlin and OneConfig, and OneConfig is bundled inside the mod.
Key features
Trail blending
Each frame blends into the next, producing the classic trailing smear of motion blur.
Unity directional blur
The blur follows the direction the camera moves, applied only when the view turns, or also while walking if enabled.
Separate strength settings
World blur and held-item blur can be tuned independently, and the held item can be excluded from blur entirely.
Adjustable sample count
The Unity sample count can be raised or lowered to trade smoothness for frame rate.
Three trail blending modes
The trail blend offers three modes, so the trail can be shaped to suit the player's preference.
