PerfectMending

by jfyx2025

PerfectMending extends Minecraft's vanilla Mending enchantment so it can repair items in every inventory slot, not only the held items and armor.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT License1.20.1 – 26.2

What it does

Vanilla Mending only repairs items in the hands and armor slots. PerfectMending widens that to the hotbar, the main inventory and the offhand, so a damaged item stored in a backpack-style slot can still be restored by experience. When several items need repair, the repair order favors higher slot indices, moving through the offhand, helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots before the inventory slots. Mending also collects experience orbs picked up by the player.

The mod adds a compact Lv button to the top-right corner of the inventory screen. A click converts the player's experience into orbs at no loss of cost, which lets players store XP between enchanting sessions, share it with friends or reset their levels safely. The features work in both singleplayer and multiplayer.

PerfectMending is a server-side only mod. Only the server needs it installed, so players join without installing anything. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Fabric is the only loader, and the files cover 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.11 and 26.2, with 1.20.1-fabric-1.0.1 as the latest file, published on 2026-08-09.

Key features

  1. All-slot Mending

Mending repairs items in the hotbar, main inventory and offhand, not only in the hands and armor slots.

  2. Priority repair order

When several items are damaged, slots with higher indices, starting with the offhand and armor, are repaired first.

  3. One-click XP conversion

The Lv button in the inventory screen turns experience into orbs at no loss, without drinking bottles or waiting.

  4. XP storage and sharing

Experience can be kept between enchanting sessions, given to other players, or reset to zero safely.
