OverpoweredMending
by Rakambda
OverpoweredMending changes how the Mending enchantment picks the items it repairs, so experience can go to gear across the whole inventory rather than only equipped or held items.
What it does
Normally Mending works on the armor and items a player wears or holds. This mod replaces that selection: instead of the equipped slots, it scans the entire inventory and directs experience to whichever item needs repair most. Some versions of the mod also change how Mending clumps experience orbs together when it repairs.
Fabric users must also install Fabric API, which is required on that loader. Forge and NeoForge builds do not list it as a requirement. Mod Menu is an optional dependency that can be added for its configuration screen. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 35 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3, and the source is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, which makes it open source.
Key features
Whole-inventory repair
Mending draws from every item in the inventory and picks the one with the most damage to repair.
Changed selection rule
The enchantment no longer limits itself to equipped armor, main hand or off hand items.
Experience clumping
On some versions, experience orbs are grouped together as they are used for repairs.
Optional configuration screen
Mod Menu can open a settings screen for the mod when it is installed alongside it.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want the Mending enchantment to draw from the whole inventory, not only from equipped and held items. The mod has no effect on enchantments other than Mending.

What the author says
Changes the way the Mending enchantment works. Instead of selecting one of the items you have equipped (armor, main hand, off hand), it'll scan your whole inventory to get the item that need to be repaired the most.
