FallingTree

by Rakambda

With FallingTree installed on a server, cutting a single log brings down the whole tree in one of four modes.

FabricForgeNeoForgeServer required, client optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.16.5 – 26.3

What it does

Breaking one log of a tree makes the rest fall, which changes how wood is gathered. The four modes are Instantaneous, where the tree drops at once; Shift down, where the log sinks slowly as it is cut; Fall items, where the tree drops with an animation and leaves items behind; and Fall blocks, where the tree drops with an animation and its blocks land on the floor. The config file controls which blocks count as logs and which as leaves, which tools may trigger the effect, whether leaves break, and whether sneaking turns the effect off or on.

The mod is server required and client optional: the server needs it, and players may add it. Servers can run it alone, although the change speed feature and some enchantment settings need the client too. Files target 26.3 for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the project is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. Cloth Config API, Fabric API and Mod Menu are optional dependencies, and builds cover 1.16.5 – 26.3 with snapshot builds published.

Key features

  1. Four falling modes

Instantaneous, Shift down, Fall items and Fall blocks each change how a felled tree comes down.

  2. Configurable log and leaf blocks

The config file lists which blocks count as tree logs and which count as leaves.

  3. Configurable tools

The set of tools that can trigger a tree fall can be widened, for example to more axes or to any item.

  4. Leaf breaking toggle

Leaf breaking can be switched on or off in the config file.

  5. Sneak to disable

Sneaking can turn the effect off for a single break, and the setting can be reversed.

Use cases

Survival wood gathering

Players who harvest many trees can fell each one from its base instead of climbing and cutting every log.

Server tree rules

Server owners can set which blocks and tools count, without requiring players to install anything.

Who it’s for: Players who gather wood often and server owners who want to control how trees are cut.

What the author says

This mod will change the way you break trees. 4 modes are available: Instantaneous: Break one log and the whole tree will fall Shift down: Break a block and the log will slowly shift down as you cut it (good if you don't want to "cheat" too much but are lazy to go cut top log blocks 😛) Fall items: Break one log and…
