NoDura
by ArkoSammy12
NoDura turns off item durability loss on a per-player basis for Fabric servers, so tools and armor stop wearing down for players who opt in.
What it does
Durability damage is switched off or on for each player, and a server owner chooses the default mode that new players start with through the gamerule defaultNoDuraMode. Players can change their own setting with the command /nodura doDurability true or false, and /nodura doDurability check reports the current status. Armor and other items in the inventory can be kept from losing durability as well, not only tools that are actually used.
The mod runs on the server alone, so players join without installing anything, and it requires Fabric API. Files are published for Fabric and cover 1.19.2 – 1.21, with 0.0.4-1.21 for 1.21 as the latest build from 2024-07-07. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.
Key features

Each player can switch durability damage on or off for their own items, without affecting anyone else on the server.

The /nodura command sets durability to true or false, and a status check shows whether durability damage is currently active.
Default mode for new players
A server admin sets the gamerule defaultNoDuraMode to decide which mode players receive when they first join.

Armor and items held in the inventory can be excluded from durability loss, not only tools in use.

Use cases
Creative-leaning survival servers
A server that wants gear to last can keep durability off by default and let players opt back in.
Testing builds without repairs
Players who build or explore can keep their tools intact while they test mechanics that consume items.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want to control item wear for each player, and players on those servers who prefer gear that does not break.
How it compares
No Tool Durability is server-side only, open source under the MIT License and published for 26.1.2 – 26.2, a range that does not overlap NoDura. CustomDurability needs both the client and the server and covers 1.19.4 – 1.21, while Rival's Durability is client-side only, under All rights reserved, and covers 1.21.1 – 1.21.11. NoDura alone among these is server-side only with a per-player toggle.

What the author says
This is a small Fabric server-side mod that allows players to configure whether items in their inventories, such as armor and tools, should be damaged when used. Use the command /nodura doDurability [true|false] to toggle the durability damage mechanic for yourself. You can also just do /nodura doDurability to check…
