Loot Refill

by ArkoSammy12

Loot Refill lets naturally generated loot containers refill themselves on a Fabric server, and the refill can be tuned per container or per area through a config file and console commands.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.3 – 1.21.8

What it does

Chests and other containers that spawn with loot tables in a world can restock their contents over time once a player has opened them. The behavior is handled on the server, so players who join a Loot Refill server do not need the mod installed. Servers that run it need Fabric API and Monkey Utils next to it. Files are published for Fabric only, across 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.21, 1.21.5, 1.21.6, 1.21.7 and 1.21.8, with 2.0.3 for 1.21.8 as the latest file.

The mod reads its settings from a file named lootrefill.toml in the server's config folder, and the file ships with a default configuration where each setting carries a comment explaining what it does. Changes can also be made in the server console with commands that start with lootrefill config, and lootrefill config reload applies them without a restart. Loot Refill is released under the MIT License and is open source, with its source code and issue tracker public.

Key features

  1. Automatic container refill

Naturally generated chests and other loot containers restock their items automatically on the server.

  2. Editable config file

Several settings live in lootrefill.toml, which is created in the server config folder with commented defaults.

  3. In-game config commands

Settings can be changed from the server console, and a reload command applies the edits without restarting.

  4. Retroactive loot table assignment

Containers that were already looted can be given a loot table identifier by hand, so they start refilling too.

  5. Per-container refill limits

A maximum refill amount can be set for a single container, while the default of -1 leaves each container on its own limit.

How it compares

Refill Chests is also server-side only and open source, but it is published for 1.16.5 – 1.20.1 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so it does not cover the versions Loot Refill supports. Hotbar Refill is client-side only, released under All rights reserved, and covers 1.20.1 – 26.3, so it refills the player's hotbar rather than world containers. Smart Refill is client-side only under the MIT License and is built for 1.21.4 – 1.21.11.

Questions

Does Loot Refill need to be installed on player clients?

No. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own.

Where are the Loot Refill settings stored?

They are kept in lootrefill.toml in the server config folder. Each setting has a comment, and changes can be applied with lootrefill config reload.

Can a single chest be given its own refill limit?

Yes. A command accepts a position, a dimension and an integer value, and a value of 0 or higher makes that container use its individual limit instead of the default.
