Monkey Utils
by ArkoSammy12
Monkey Utils is a Fabric library for Minecraft mod developers, offering a declarative, Kotlin-focused set of utilities for features many mods share.
What it does
The library wraps Electronwill's Night Config so that configuration files can be read and written in TOML, JSON and HOCON formats. Mods built on it can declare their settings and have the files created with those settings.
Beyond configuration, Monkey Utils provides an API for registering commands, permission nodes and configuration settings, along with a registration database implementation. Because it is a library, it adds no content of its own; players only see it when a mod that requires it is installed.
Monkey Utils is server-side only, so it is needed on servers running dependent mods and can stay off the client. Builds are published for Fabric across 10 release versions, 1.21 – 1.21.11, and the source code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Configuration in three formats
Config files can be created and read in TOML, JSON and HOCON, using a wrapper over Night Config.
Command registration
An API registers commands together with their permission nodes, so dependent mods do not each implement that logic.
Settings registration
Configuration settings are registered through the library and tracked in a registration database.
Kotlin-focused design
The utilities are written declaratively for Kotlin, aimed at mod developers who build on Fabric.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
1.21.x10 of 10 versions with builds
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.

Use cases
Mod development
Developers use it as a shared base for configuration, commands and registration instead of writing those systems themselves.
Server configuration
Server owners running mods such as Creeper Healing or Public Ender Chest get the library installed as one of their required dependencies.
Who it’s for: Mod developers building Fabric mods in Kotlin and server owners who run mods that depend on Monkey Utils.
How it compares
Bento Config, Bento Util and Bento Box are Fabric libraries under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, open source, covering 1.20 – 1.21.1 or 1.21 – 1.21.1. Each works on either side, and neither side needs it. InterdimensionalLib is a Fabric and Quilt library under the MIT License for 1.21 – 1.21.1, and both the server and every player need it.
