Aspect Alchemy
by nezerxnew
Aspect Alchemy lets players brew potions in an Aspect Cauldron, where ingredients combine according to hidden aspects and status effects.
What it does
The Aspect Cauldron is the central block of the mod. An empty cauldron takes water and holds up to three water levels, as the vanilla cauldron does, and a heat source such as a campfire, soul fire, lava or a magma block brings the water to a boil in about 10 seconds. Removing the heat source cools it at once. Breaking the block drops an empty cauldron. While boiling, the block gives off bubbles and a lava-like ambient hum.
Players add up to three unique ingredients by right-clicking with a hand or by throwing items onto the cauldron with Q, and repeated ingredient types are allowed. Each ingredient brings its own status effects and aspects, and the final potion keeps only the effects shared by at least two ingredients, with the amplifier set by the number of occurrences minus one, capped at level V. The water color shifts with each ingredient and shows the average blend of the active effects. Scooping with a bottle lowers the water level by one.
Standing inside a boiling cauldron deals 1 damage per second to entities that are not fire-immune. Players can instead bathe in a finished potion, which applies its effects for a short exposure and refreshes them each tick. Potions can be bottled, and the mod also infuses arrows. The mod runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, and is published for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. Architectury API, Fabric API and Patchouli are required. Jade is an optional add-on, and Aspect Alchemy is released under the MIT License but is not open source.
