Starcatcher
by wdiscute
Starcatcher is a Forge and NeoForge fishing minigame with more than 100 fish, tackle, trophies, tournaments and aquariums, in which players catch fish through a skill-based minigame.
What it does
Players fish with a rod that accepts hooks, bobbers and baits, and each fish has its own size, weight and fishing conditions. Biome, weather, time of day and elevation limit where many fish can be caught, and some catches are harder than they look. The minigame differs for different fish, and some messages left in the world can lead to rare treasure. Starcatcher can be combined with Starcatcher's Delight - Let's Do: Kaleidoscope edition and Hybrid Aquatic + Starcatcher Compatibility, both of which require it.
Tackle boxes store fish and swap rod attachments, a catalogue records every catch, and aquariums display selected catches. Fishing tournaments let players compete with friends. Datapacks and the in-game config menu offer accessibility settings, global multipliers and other behaviour changes, and the wiki explains how to write a datapack. Fishing rods from other mods do not work with the mod, and compatibility is being restored in later updates. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Builds exist for Forge and NeoForge, covering 1.20.1 – 26.3, and the license is custom and not open source.
