Souper Secret Settings
by Nettakrim
Souper Secret Settings brings back the old Super Secret Settings shader list from vanilla Minecraft and adds new custom shaders, with a GUI to stack them.
What it does
Drinking beetroot soup picks a random shader from the list, and drinking milk reloads resources. Stacking several shaders at once is handled through the GUI, which keeps the default shader always reachable, and F3+T clears the active shader. Players can also edit the parameters of an existing shader and save the modified layers inside the GUI.
The mod is client-side only, so a server does not need it and players can join without installing anything. Installing it needs Fabric API and Luminance, both required. Files exist for Fabric only, across 16 release versions 1.19 – 1.21.11, and the code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, which makes the mod open source. Source code is publicly available.
Because it only changes rendering, it can be combined with Optifine or Iris shaderpacks, and the author notes that some combinations look striking. The author also points to the Epoch Vector base as a starting point for custom looks.
Key features
Restored shader list
The original Super Secret Settings shaders from vanilla are available again, alongside the new custom ones.
Stacked shader layers
Several shaders can be stacked at once, with the stack managed through a GUI instead of commands.
Layer sharing
Saved layers can be copied as text with soup:layer copy and loaded again, so a stack can be sent to another player.
Resourcepack shaders
New shaders are added through resourcepacks, and a guide in the project explains how to write them.
