Simply Skills
Simply Skills adds a combat-focused skill tree to Fabric, with passive skills, specialisation paths and signature abilities for players on 1.20.1.
What it does
Players spend points on a base skill tree. Its nodes are mostly passive skills that change game mechanics in specific ways, rather than plain stat increases. Reaching a specialisation path opens a separate tree of abilities tied to that path, and only one specialisation can be active at a time. A Malevolent Manuscript resets the base tree and refunds spent points; if a specialisation is active, its points are lost for good.
The mod builds on Pufferfish's Attributes, Pufferfish's Skills, Spell Engine and Spell Power Attributes, all of which are required. Simply Skills is published for Fabric only, for 1.20 and 1.20.1, and the latest file is 1.7.2+1.20.1 for 1.20.1, dated 2025-03-09. Installing on client and server means the server and every player need it. Optional integrations exist with Amethyst Imbuement, Simply Swords and the RPG Series mods Archers, Paladins & Priests, Rogues & Warriors and Wizards.
Key features
Passive skills
Passive skills alter how certain mechanics behave rather than adding a fixed number to an attribute.
Specialisation paths
Specialisations open once a path is reached in the base tree, each with its own additional skill tree.
Malevolent Manuscript reset
The manuscript refunds base tree points, and it also clears the specialisation tree if one is active.
Class-based combat
Skill sets are built around combat roles, letting players follow the class fantasy they prefer.
Late-game progression
An ascendancy tree is listed on the roadmap as additional late-game progression.

Players who want a class-driven combat build can shape a character through the tree and a chosen specialisation.

Players already using Spell Engine and Spell Power Attributes can add skill progression on top of those systems.
Who it’s for: Players who want class-based combat progression on Fabric, and server owners who run Spell Engine with the required libraries.
