Sand Mastery brings Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere sand magic into Minecraft, letting players launch, lift and shoot themselves and enemies with Taldain sand.
What it does
Sand Mastery adds Taldain sand to the game, which players gather from loot chests found most often in desert temples. A single layer of Taldain sand can be picked up and placed by right-clicking, and eight stacked layers form a full block. Using the sand's abilities draws on water, so players need to keep a water container at hand to avoid becoming dehydrated.
The mod gives players a set of abilities drawn from the Cosmere setting. Sand can launch a player across a chasm or up to a tower, lift them through the air, and soften the landing after a long fall. Offensive uses let a player shoot sand at enemies. A Sand Pouch holds the sand a player uses, and a Sand Jar stores a layer of Taldain sand, so getting started does not depend on finding the Taldain block itself. Abilities must be charged before use.
The mod requires Cosmere and Curios API. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1, with 0.7.113 as the latest file, and the code is released under the MIT License, which makes it open source.
