Text Placeholder API
by Patbox
Text Placeholder API lets Fabric mods share placeholders such as %modid:type% and a simple text format for chat and config styling.
What it does
Placeholders are short tags that a mod replaces with live values, for example a player name or a server statistic. This library defines one format, %modid:type% or %modid:type data%, so placeholders from different mods work the same way wherever a compatible mod accepts text. Server owners can configure several mods with the same syntax.
It also includes a simplified text format, a readable way to add colors and styles without writing JSON text components. The library is small and can be bundled inside other mods. 31 catalog mods require it, including Mod Menu, CustomNameTags and HoloDisplays. It is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
Shared placeholder format
One %modid:type% syntax works across every mod that supports the library.
Mod placeholders
Mods register their own placeholders, which then become usable in other compatible mods.
Simplified text styling
Colored and styled text is written in readable tags instead of raw JSON.
Small and bundleable
The API is light enough for mods to include it directly inside their own files.
