AutoSprint
by AzureStrike
Holding W down to keep moving is the job AutoSprint takes over: pressing W once starts sprinting, and the client-side Fabric mod handles the rest.
What it does
AutoSprint starts sprinting as soon as the player presses W, so the separate sprint key on the left Ctrl is no longer needed to run. Sprinting continues while the player keeps moving forward and stops when the player stops, collides with a block, or the state resets. Pressing W again reactivates it. A toggle lets the player switch the behavior on or off whenever it is wanted, which is useful in situations such as building or fighting where sprinting is not desired.
The mod is a lightweight Fabric addition meant for everyday movement: exploring, traveling and PvP, where fewer repeated key presses leave more attention for the game itself. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, and its source code, issue tracker and wiki are public. It runs on client and server. Installation needs Fabric API, Mod Menu and Text Placeholder API alongside it, and files cover 1.21.1 – 1.21.11 across four release versions, with 2.4.1 for 1.21.11 as the latest Fabric file.
Key features
Automatic sprint on W
Pressing the forward key starts sprinting without a separate sprint key, reducing the number of inputs during movement.
Toggle on and off
The behavior can be enabled or disabled at any time through a keybinding in the Controls options.
Sprint state reset
Sprinting ends when the player stops, runs into a block, or the mod's behavior resets the sprint state.
Lightweight design
The mod adds only the sprint behavior and avoids unrelated features, keeping the change focused on movement.
