Natural Waters
by Fuzs
With Natural Waters installed on a client, rivers, lakes and oceans take on the brighter water colors of Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
What it does
Each biome gets its own water style, so swamps, jungles and open seas no longer look alike. Modded biomes receive the same treatment automatically, which keeps newly generated regions consistent with the rest of the world.
The look is controlled by per-biome settings for water color, fog and transparency. Those values can be changed through resource packs, and the config files can also be edited with an external text editor. Configuration from inside the game is available through the mod menu when Mod Menu is installed on Fabric.
Natural Waters requires Puzzles Lib on Fabric and NeoForge, Fabric API on Fabric, and Forge Config API Port on Fabric. It is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, and is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 11 release versions, 1.21.1 – 26.3.
Key features
Biome-specific water colors
Every biome can show its own water color, from calm lake blues to glowing jungle tones.
Fog and transparency settings
Fog density and water transparency are adjustable per biome, changing how deep or clear each body of water appears.
Modded biome support
Biomes added by other mods are styled automatically without extra setup.
Resource pack control
Per-biome values are set through resource packs, so a pack author can supply a complete water palette.

Use cases
Themed worlds
Players building a tropical or fantasy world can give each region a distinct body of water.
Resource pack projects
Pack makers can define water palettes for specific biomes without writing code.
Who it’s for: Players who want more varied water in survival or creative worlds, and resource pack authors who build complete visual styles. Because it is client-side only, it is installed by players rather than server owners.
How it compares
Colorful Water is a Fabric client-side mod, published for 26.1.2 – 26.2 under the MIT License, so it does not cover the NeoForge builds of Natural Waters. BBL Colors is a NeoForge mod for 1.21 – 26.1.2 with the client and server environment, meaning the server must run it as well. Colorful Leaves! covers 1.21.1 – 1.21.8 on both loaders, with its own client and server setup.
