Model Gap Fix
Model Gap Fix removes texture zooming from block and item models so that every face of a model samples its full texture, closing the thin seams players see on custom blocks and flat items.
What it does
Seams appear on models because the game shrinks each face's texture slightly. The mod drops that zoom, so each model face uses 100% of its texture. The change fixes the gaps on items, where they are most visible, and also on block models and any other model that relies on the same code. Custom block models and some flat two-dimensional items were the cases where the problem showed most often.
On Forge, the mod also changes how the item model generator builds flat items. It no longer creates a quad that covers a transparent pixel. Instead it makes one quad per row of solid pixels in each direction, which lets those side quads grow slightly without opening new gaps. Fabric does not show the tiny lines this addresses, so its models work without the extra quads. The added quads can cost a little performance compared with vanilla, mainly with high-resolution packs.
Client-side installation is the only requirement beyond Fabric API on Fabric. Open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, the project publishes its source code, and builds exist for 1.18.1 – 1.21.10 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt.
Key features
Full texture use on faces
Each model face samples its whole texture, so the seams caused by texture zooming no longer appear.
Item model generator fix
Flat item models on Forge are built one row of solid pixels at a time, which removes the flicker of the thin lines.
Block and item coverage
The correction applies to block models, item models and other models that use the same rendering path.
Client-side installation
Only the client needs the mod, so server owners do not have to install anything for it to work.
