Haema
by will_bl
Haema turns a player into a vampire, with new abilities, a dash, changed night vision and a blood-based progression that reaches into villages and dungeons.
What it does
Players become a vampire through a blood injector crafted with a weakness potion, through the Origins mod when it is installed, or through the Bewitchment mod when that is installed. Vampire blood is found in a dungeon temple and held by a cleric villager, and the book Create Book Blood explains how the system works. Vampires do not hunger and feed by shift-right-clicking mobs, but only some creatures give usable blood, and feeding on awake villagers calls Vampire Hunters.
Vampire abilities are upgraded at a Ritual Altar. Current features include a dash, night vision, sleep during the day, higher maximum health and more strength. Vampires cannot die unless a killing blow strikes certain things, which makes some threats more dangerous. Haema requires Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin and Geckolib, and bundles Cardinal Components API, Patchouli and Satin API. The mod runs on client and server, and the code is MIT licensed and open source. Its gameplay is set through gamerules and datapack tags, and a separate client config is available in the mod settings.
