Good ol' commands

by Discorde

Good ol' commands brings back a set of classic Minecraft commands that recent updates removed, along with extra variants of existing ones.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.20 – 1.20.1

What it does

Players who miss commands that were dropped in recent updates can restore them with this Fabric mod. The mod adds many older commands that were possible in earlier versions, along with more variants of commands that still exist and extra functionality for some of them. Gamemode commands are included, so /gamemode 0 switches to survival, /gamemode 1 to creative, /gamemode 2 to adventure and /gamemode 3 to spectator. A sound indicator plays when the gamemode changes.

Good ol' commands requires Fabric API and runs on the client only, so a server does not need it. Files are published for Fabric, for game versions 1.20 and 1.20.1, with 1.1 for 1.20.1 as the latest file, released on 2023-09-15. The code is released under the MIT License, and the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Restored commands

Older commands that were removed in later updates come back, so familiar syntax keeps working on the client.

  2. Command variants

Existing commands gain extra variants and options, widening what they can do.

  3. Numeric gamemode switches

Commands 0 through 3 select survival, creative, adventure or spectator mode directly.

  4. Gamemode sound indicator

A sound plays when the gamemode changes, so the switch is noticed without checking the screen.
