Enchanting Plus

by Darkhax

Enchanting Plus lets a player set each enchantment on an item by hand, paying with EXP points instead of levels, from an advanced enchanting table.

ForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 onlyOpen source1.5.2 – 1.12.2

What it does

Placing an item in the top slot of the advanced table fills the centre area with the enchantments that can be changed on it. A side bar scrolls through the list when more than four are valid, and sliding it right raises an enchantment's level while sliding it left lowers it. A green background marks an enchantment that can be modified, and a red one marks an enchantment currently blocked, usually because an incompatible enchantment is already selected on the same item.

The cost updates as each level changes and is counted in EXP points rather than levels. The top left info box shows the player's current EXP, the price and tips about the mod. Once the player has enough EXP, clicking the enchanted book button applies the selection to the item. The mod requires Bookshelf on Forge 1.12.2, and runs on client and server so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge across 10 release versions, 1.5.2 – 1.12.2, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, which makes the project open source.

Curse and treasure enchantments are normally out of reach. Curses of this kind can be added only during a narrow window tied to the in-game clock and the moon phase, lasting about four real-life minutes. The player can check the moon's position in the sky to judge the time.

Key features

  1. Per-level enchantment control

Each valid enchantment can be raised or lowered with the side bar before the item is enchanted.

  2. Compatibility highlighting

Enchantments that conflict with a selected one are shown with a red background and cannot be chosen.

  3. EXP-based pricing

The total cost is calculated in EXP points and updates live as the selection changes.

  4. Info box

The top left box displays the player's EXP, the current cost and tips about the mod.

  5. Curse and treasure access

Curse and treasure enchantments become available only under the special midnight and full moon conditions.

Use cases

Custom gear builds

Players who want a particular combination of enchantments on a tool or weapon can set each one exactly instead of relying on random rolls.

Who it’s for: Players who want precise control over enchantments and are willing to spend more EXP to get it. Server owners who run the 1.12.2 build need the mod on both sides.
