Blood Magic

by WayofTime

Blood Magic is an arcane mod in which blood becomes the source of power, and nearly every action carries a risk of harm.

ForgeClient and serverCreative Commons Attribution 4.01.7.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

The mod is built around a forbidden material. Players gather blood and channel it into spells, machines and items, and the power it grants comes with danger: an ill-judged action made with this volatile magic can prove deadly. Its in-game guide, the Sanguine Scientum, is crafted from a book and a piece of glass and includes a getting started section.

Installation requires Patchouli. The server and every player need the mod installed. Files are published for Forge only, across 16 release versions, 1.7.2 – 1.20.1, and the latest file, 3.3.8-50, targets 1.20.1. The code is under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, and the project is not open source, though its source code and issue tracker are public. Seven catalog mods require it, among them Tome of Blood: Rebirth, Animus and BloodMagic: Teams.

Key features

  1. Blood-powered magic

Blood is gathered and used as the energy source for spells and devices, making it the central resource of the mod.

  2. In-game guidebook

The Sanguine Scientum guide is craftable and explains the mechanics inside the game.

  3. Dangerous actions

Several actions carry a risk to the player, so the mod favors careful use of its power over casual play.

  4. Recipe viewer support

The guide and recipes are easier to follow when a recipe viewer such as JustEnoughItems is installed.
