Enchancement

by MoriyaShiine

With Enchancement installed, the enchanting table offers a menu of chosen enchantments in place of random rolls, and Enchanted Books gain a role in the process.

FabricNeoForgeQuiltClient and serverAll rights reserved1.18.2 – 26.3

What it does

The mod overhauls vanilla enchanting. The enchanting table interface is replaced with a version that removes randomness: the player selects the enchantments wanted. Enchanting requires Chiseled Bookshelves holding Enchanted Books, and each enchanted item draws an extra material cost tied to its type, such as diamonds for diamond gear. Bookshelves lower what enchanting costs in experience, lapis and materials, and villagers sell only unenchanted items.

Most vanilla enchantments are removed and replaced with 34 new ones that grant unique abilities instead of plain stat changes. Enchanted Books for each gear type appear more often in particular structures, such as Nether Fortresses for helmets and Trial Chambers for chestplates. Levelless, enchantment-limit and durability-free modes can be turned on in the config. Enchancement requires Fabric API, Forgified Fabric API, Launchpad and StrawberryLib, and it bundles MidnightLib. It is published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds covering 1.18.2 – 26.3, under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Random-free enchanting

The enchanting table lets the player choose each enchantment directly instead of receiving a random set.

  2. Bookshelf-gated enchanting

Enchanting draws on Chiseled Bookshelves that contain Enchanted Books, which serve as the source of enchantments.

  3. Material cost per item

Each enchantment costs materials matched to the enchanted item, and bookshelves reduce that cost along with experience and lapis.

  4. Structure-specific books

Enchanted Books for each gear type spawn mainly in linked structures, from Ocean Ruins for tridents to Shipwrecks for fishing rods.

  5. Grindstone book transfer

Enchantments can be moved off gear onto books at a grindstone, while books are barred from anvil use on tools.

Use cases

Custom enchantment progression

Server owners can set which enchantments are allowed and tie their cost to materials, building a progression around chosen enchantments.

Who it’s for: Players who want enchanting to be a deliberate choice rather than a random roll, and server owners who want to adjust the enchanting rules through the config.
