ChatTweaks (Compact Chat + More)
by Polyfrost
With ChatTweaks, repeated chat lines stack into one entry with a counter such as (2), and the chat history survives leaving a world or server.
What it does
ChatTweaks is a bundle of small changes to the Minecraft chat, published by Polyfrost for Fabric and Ornithe across 12 release versions, 1.8.9 – 26.3. Repeated messages collapse into a single line with a counter, so the chat window keeps more of the conversation visible. The history limit rises from the vanilla 100 messages to 16384, and the chat no longer clears when a player leaves a world or server. Entries are kept per account and per server and return on rejoin.
The mod needs OneConfig, and the Fabric builds also need Fabric API. It is client-side only, so a server does not need it and players can join without installing it. The code is adapted from an earlier Polyfrost project, and the mod is not open source: it is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license.
Files cover the latest builds at 1.8.9 and 26.3. The latest Fabric file is v1.2.2 for 26.3, and the latest Ornithe file is v1.2.2 for 1.8.9, both dated 2026-10-11.
