Bedrock Books
Bedrock Books changes how written books look in Java Edition so that the book screen resembles the one in Bedrock Edition, and it runs only on the client.
What it does
The mod alters the book screen so the layout matches the Bedrock Edition look: a single visible page area instead of two side by side, with the text displayed at the same size as vanilla. The changes are a 100% client-side visual port, adjusted in some aspects to fit how books work in Java Edition. Pre-existing books keep their content and appear with the new layout, and lectern screens show a bookmark that marks the page the server and other players see. A feature lets players fine tune redstone power levels as in vanilla Java Edition, and lecterns keep handling pages correctly for vanilla players instead of skipping them.
Bedrock Books requires Fabric API and works with Mod Menu as an optional dependency. The mod is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 10 release versions, 1.21.6 – 26.2, and is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial 4.0 license, so it is not open source. Source code and an issue tracker are linked publicly. Its latest files, 1.2.0+26.2 for Fabric and NeoForge, were published on 2026-06-29, and a backport to earlier releases is planned.

What the author says
Bedrock Books is a mod that simply changes the book screen to look more like the one seen in Bedrock Edition, all while remaining 100% client side! Note: this is not a fully 100% accurate port, some aspects have been slightly adapted and adjusted to better fit with how books work on Java Edition
