AxeControl
by euphorria_a
AxeControl changes how an axe strips logs, so that stripping happens only while Shift is held, which guards against accidental bark removal.
What it does
Stripping a log with an axe normally happens on a plain right-click, which can remove bark by accident while building or chopping. AxeControl requires the player to hold Shift during that action, so an ordinary click on a log leaves it untouched. The check runs on the player's own game, so no server-side installation is needed and it works in single-player worlds and on multiplayer servers alike.
The mod is client-side only, so only the client needs it and servers run without it. It requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin, and its files target Fabric for 1.17 – 1.21.8. The code is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, a public domain dedication, and the mod is not open source. The latest Fabric file is 1.0.2 for 1.21.8, published on 2025-08-08.
Key features
Shift requirement
Log stripping with an axe is only triggered while Shift is held down, so a normal click does nothing to the log.
Toggle key
A configurable key switches the Shift requirement off in game for players who want the vanilla behaviour back.
Cross-version builds
Separate builds cover Minecraft 1.17 – 1.18.2 on Java 16, 1.19 – 1.19.4 on Java 17, and 1.20 – 1.21.5 on Java 21.

Use cases
Protecting logs while building
Builders who clear trees or shape wood can click past logs without stripping them by mistake.
Wood harvesting on servers
A player can join a multiplayer server and keep the Shift habit without asking the server owner for any change.
Who it’s for: Players who strip logs often and want an extra step before bark is removed, including those who play on servers they do not administer.
How it compares
Anti Strip is client-side only, released under the MIT License, is not open source and targets 1.21.11. Revert Toggle Sneak is also client-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.21.9 – 26.3. Unstrip Logs is server-side only and uses All rights reserved, so it requires installation on the server rather than the player's game.
