Aurora's Lanterns adds new lantern and light-source blocks that players place on floors, walls and ceilings, along with chandeliers and Redstone lanterns.

What it does

The mod began as part of Aurora's Decorations and focuses on lanterns and other light sources, placed in small details to decorate builds. Its blocks are placed on the ground, on walls or hanging from a ceiling, and some of them can be mixed or stacked for different looks.

Some lanterns carry behaviour beyond light: Amethyst Lanterns sparkle and keep hostile mobs from spawning across a large radius regardless of light level, and a placed block can help cure zombie villagers somewhat faster when nearby. Redstone lanterns transmit power in limited directions, and hanging lanterns sway in the wind with physical interaction when entities collide with them. Aurora's Lanterns requires Fabric API, and on NeoForge it also needs Forgified Fabric API. It is published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, with files for 1.20 – 26.3, under a custom license that is not open source.

    Amethyst Lanterns sparkle and keep hostile mobs from spawning over a large radius, whatever the light level.

  2. Redstone lanterns

    Hanging Redstone lanterns transmit power only horizontally, which helps build redstone towers in a compact layout.

  3. Wall and hanging lanterns

    Wall lanterns hang from walls, and hanging lanterns sway in the wind and react when an entity collides with them.

  4. Chandeliers

    Chandeliers hold up to four candles in one block, and the candles can mix colours for interior decoration.

Does Aurora's Lanterns need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required on every loader, and Forgified Fabric API is required too. Install Forgified Fabric API alongside Fabric API on NeoForge.

Does the mod have to be installed on the server?

Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Which versions are supported?

Files cover 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.21, 1.21.1 and the 1.21.5 – 26.3 builds, including snapshot builds. The latest Fabric and Quilt files are 2.2.0+26.3 for 26.3.

Can worlds from older Aurora's Decorations versions keep their lanterns?

Yes. The mod is backwards compatible with worlds made using older versions of Aurora's Decorations, so placed lanterns remain.
