Wither Cage Fix
Wither Cage Fix changes how Wither bosses keep their targets and stops them from firing blue skulls by default, which lets server owners build simpler Wither cages.
What it does
Vanilla Minecraft has a bug where a Wither forgets its target after a player quits, travels through a portal or otherwise leaves and re-enters the area. The mod corrects this so the boss keeps tracking its target. Because the Wither no longer needs a line of sight to stay locked on, a cage can be built with far fewer control lines.
Blue skulls are the Wither's attack that breaks blocks, and the mod adds a game rule named wither cage fix:allowBlueWitherSkulls. It defaults to false, so Withers shoot only normal skulls, and the rule can be set to true to restore the vanilla behavior. Breaking blocks through the blue skulls is a fully automatable late-game way to clear an arena, but it is harder to set up, which the default setting reflects.
The mod runs on a server alone, including single-player worlds that run a local server, so players join without installing it. It is released under the MIT License and the source code and issue tracker are publicly available. Fabric API is required. Files target the Fabric and Quilt loaders, and the mod is not ported to Forge.
Key features
Target persistence fix
Withers keep tracking their target after the player leaves and re-enters the area or changes dimension.
Blue skull control
A game rule decides whether Withers fire blue skulls; the default blocks them, matching the normal skull behavior.
Server-side operation
The changes apply on the server, so players without the mod can still fight and build with it.
Simpler cage design
Because targets are kept without line of sight, Wither cages need fewer control lines.

What the author says
This mod fixes a bug in vanilla minecraft that causes Wither bosses to forget which mob they were targeting when they unload (due to quitting, going through a portal, etc.). Additionally, it adds a new gamerule: wither_cage_fix:allowBlueWitherSkulls (default = false). If this is set to false, Withers will never shoot…
